Today's Focus: Spiritual Growth While Separated

In the midst of our pain, we often feel estranged from God. But listen to the words of Jesus: "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." (Matt. 11:28) If you are separated from your spouse, you are likely weary from much stress. You are heavy-laden, burdened perhaps with guilt, anger, hostility, and anxiety. You will notice that Jesus does not ask that you lay the burden aside and come to Him, but rather that you simply come to Him. He has promised to give rest. He has not asked you to handle your own problems, nor has He promised to take away the problems, but He has promised rest.

God is your friend. It is God's desire to share life with us, to help us find meaning and purpose in life, to give us answers to the problems we encounter. In the midst of our pain it is sometimes difficult to believe that God can do anything for us. The fact is that when we come to Him, He helps us begin to make sense of life. The pain of marital separation has led many people to a renewed and vital relationship with God.
